Activities and services may be by phone, online, or in-person outdoors or indoors. 
Indoor activities are subject to change due to changing COVID-19 conditions.

All activities listed are at the Ashland Senior Center, 1699 Homes Avenue, unless otherwise indicated. Please note that registration for some programs is by phone only, as indicated below.  Registration closes at noon the day before the start of a session. For virtual classes, the Zoom link will be emailed the day before.

CURRENT SEASON CLASSES

Walking Group / Outdoor Activity
Come enjoy some fresh air, exercise, and good company! A volunteer guide will lead this weekly walking group in and around Lithia Park. Walks will be held at a gentle pace and will take approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Routes will stay on accessible paths. Please meet in Lithia Park, between the playground and bathrooms, five minutes before start time. Walks will take place rain or shine; please dress accordingly. Sorry, no dogs as they are not permitted in Lithia Park and leashes are a potential tripping hazard.

ONGOING ACTIVITIES

Gentle Yoga / In-Person (Indoor) Class
The focus of this one-hour hatha yoga class is to increase strength, flexibility and balance while simultaneously alleviating stress and fatigue. Additional benefits of regular yoga practice include an overall sense of well-being and an increase in self-awareness and self-acceptance. Participants must be aware of their own capabilities in order to participate safely. Ability to get up and down from the floor is required. Each class will conclude with deep relaxation. Please bring your own yoga mat; other props will be provided.

If public health guidelines change and indoor, in-person classes are not possible, this class will move to Zoom.

Dementia Caregiver Support Group / Online or In-Person

Senior Services Division staff are available for one-on-one resource consultations to help you get connected to the help you need. Please call 541.488.5342 to make an appointment to learn about public and private services and programs that fit your personal situation. (Brief information, assistance and referral services are also available on Mon—Thur, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. by phone.)

SHIBA — Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance / By Phone
Specially trained volunteers from Community Volunteer Network can speak with you by phone to help you receive as many Medicare benefits as possible and reduce out of pocket costs. SHIBA is funded by a federal grant from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. These services are available at no charge and are by appointment. Please call 541.488.5342 to make a phone appointment or for more information.
